Diabetics at Applebee's

Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.

If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. All the beverages except Iced Teas must be avoided as well to control your sugar intake.

High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

My least favorite part about eating here was the indifferent "smoking section." I don't think there really was a place in this restaurant that you weren't able to smell smoke. That might not be their fault, but it still made my meal less desirable. I was treated to lunch here by my new coworker Betsy. She got a salad and half-sandwich. I decided to go with the server's recommendation and had a chicken dish. It was good and came out pretty quickly. It looked a bit "staged" and I felt like it could have been sitting out under a heat lamp for a while, but I digress...

I never used to be a huge fan of Applebee's, but they've improved their menu substantially over the years. I particularly like their section that specifies a meal is 550 calories or less. I mean, as much as I love to go out to eat, I also like to have the option of choosing something that is not soaked in butter and cooked in grease and oil once and a while. My dad and I stopped here the other day for a quick meal while he was driving through town. We both ended up getting the Asiago Peppercorn Steak with herb potatoes. It was absolutely delicious AND was on the lower calories menu! For dessert, I decided to get the chocolate mousse shooter. Call me crazy, but it was one of the best desserts I've had in a while. And it's so simple. All in all, one of the best meals I've had lately. The service was average, no complaints. One thing I like about this location is that it almost feels as though it is actually on campus. The majority of the clientele is students and their families, and the servers are probably mostly students as well. Even though I've just graduated, I still feel most at home in places filled with college students. It's going to be so weird moving back home and always going to restaurants and bars where all the real people go...

I haven't ate at an Applebee's in years so I was looking forward to the food. The Hostess was sitting down watching TV when we entered. She greeted our group of four warmly and sat us quickly. We decided to order their Queso Dip & Cheese and when it was brought to our table it looked great. The Chips were warm and the Queso was hot! When we were almost finished though, there were many crumbs on the bottom of the plate and my friend said she thought she found a hair. I took the chip from her and inspected it and indeed there was a hair in the queso part of her chip. We told the waiter and he took the plate from our table and the manager took it off our bill. The Manager, shirt not tucked in or buttoned, later came to our table to apologize. The waiter was courteous while taking our orders. I ordered the Blackened Chicken Broccoli Pasta Alfredo Bowl. When my food arrived it looked great, you could still see the heat coming from the pasta and chicken. The pasta tasted great and left me wanting more when I was finished, while the blackened chicken tasted a bit dry. The Hair in the Appetizer and the dressed down Manager affected their score. Food Contamination, Food Appearance, Employee Uniform affect their score greatly.

Good place to go for happy hour. After 9pm everyday they have $1.50 pints and half off appetizers. The service at this location is great. They also have trivia on Tuesday nights which is a blast.

Everything you'd expect from an Applebee's. Although I'm not a huge fan of chain restaurants, sometimes it's nice just to sit down at a place with a predictable menu and predictable decor. It takes the stress out of eating out...lots of choices on a familiar menu.

I have not once had a positive experience here. Here are 3 separate examples over a 3 year period: 1. Ordered to-go inside the restaurant. The bartender sent me to a side door so that I can place my order with a carside-to-go server. The server didn't know the menu and started to charge me for dinner items when I specifically ordered from the lunch menu. In the middle of her taking my order, she took a phone call which lasted over 10 minutes while I just stood there and waited. I finally placed my order and went to the bar to wait. At this point, I could have really used a drink but the bartender, who had no customers, never once asked me if I wanted anything. 2. Carside to go: Ordered 2 things: steak done medium and chicken parm. They said 15 minutes. I got there 20 minutes later. I sat there for an additional 20 minutes sitting at the parking only to come home to find that BOTH items were wrong. They packed a steak pasta and grilled chicken. 3. Dined inside: My boyfriend ordered jim beam and ginger ale. It came in a small glass that looked like a shotglass and the color was near-clear like vodka and tonic. There was no liquor, and hardly any ginger ale. It was more like water and ice with golden food coloring. We ordered the appetizer sampler which had mozarella sticks and spinach artichoke dip. Mozarella sticks tasted like it had been fried 3 hours ago and the spinach artichoke dip tasted like it had been sitting on the stove for 3 hours as well. Needless to say, this restaurant isn't good for carry out, carside to go, or for dining in. Avoid it.

Came here for a quick bite to eat with my cousins before we headed downtown for the Michigan game. We tried the 2 for $20 deal. I had the three cheese chicken penne- it was okay. Not too much flavor to it. The spinach artichoke appetizer dip was good. Our waitress was nice and we didn't wait too long for our food.

Absolutely the best Applebees I've been to. This is my 2nd time in weeks and at different times. Had Steak both and they were both cooked to perfection and juicy and tasty and good and the presentation looks just like the picture! (when does that happen?..UMM Never..lol) strongly suggest honey peppered steak I think its called and potatoes. The steak was awesome the potatoes were awesome times too there was a ninja and jalapenos that were not spicy but really mild good I've been too many restaurants I don't eat at home I eat out everyday and this is the last two good meals I've had in a long time. Oh and don't forget the blondie desert its to die for.

I hate the food here, but I love coming for the cheap drinks and trivia on Tuesday nights. I'm disappointed that in this day and age a restaurant as main stream as Applebee's doesn't have a single vegetarian entree option. Sure you can take the meat out, but you still charge me for it. : / This is why people hate chains.

I must admit, I regret going to Applebee's... I haven't been there in ages and had an opportunity to have a dinner with a friend... walked in and got seated. The waitress came and asked what I wanted to drink, got water. So for dinner, we decided to do the 2 for $20 deal... for appetizer we ordered the buffalo wings (hot), I got the 7 oz. Sirloin steak with mixed vegetables and my friend got the chicken fingers. We gout our boneless buffalo wings, in addition to the hot sauce, they sprinkled some extra hot seasoning on top... who can go wrong, frying up frozen boneless chicken, saucing it up and serving it with two dipping sauces? I got my dish and I had asked for mixed vegetables with my steak... what did they give me? Two large broccoli and one 7 oz. undercooked steak... the meat was light brown and inside was pure red... I had asked for medium... the meat was hard to cut into... yeah, sent the meat back and they cooked it further... when it returned, the steak was brown and looked cooked and I was able to slice it.... having gone through this experience, I'm unwilling to order steaks from establishments like Applebee's (granted I won't be going back for long time), Chili's, etc... Overall, while their menu's have gone though many changes, for me Applebee's is on the bottom of the list compare to TGIF's, Chili's, etc.

Service: our server was Kyle and he was fantastic. He was very quick with our food, make jokes and aided in menu questions. Food: The hot buffalo sauce was on the wings was some of the best sauce I've ever tasted. The 3 cheese penne lacked a strong taste, but the chicken was delicious and well cooked. Cheese sticks were very solid and cooked well. Overall a very good family experience.

We've been going here quite a bit, for several months. Applebee's here has sweeeet staff. If something is off -- they're quick to rectify and make it better. The food is basic American comfort food -- they do try to upgrade/update their menu. It's fun to drink there during Happy Hr! Great to eat at Applebee's if you're not dieting and just wanna enjoy some hot, tasty, 'fast' food plated!

This is mine & my fiance's favorite Applebee's location. The food is great, hot & perfect portion sizes every time. Love the spinach artichoke dip & wonton tacos for an appetizer. The quesadilla burger & oriental chicken salad are a couple of my favorite entrees. I always ask for the spicy asian chili sauce to dip my fries in. Service has always been friendly, the last couple of times we went the severs were just a little slow to check on us & forgot minor things (lemon in my water & didn't bring out my son's chocolate milk with his meal, no biggie) but they seemed like they were new. I'm surprised this doesn't have as many stars as I'd thought, I've been to many Applebee's & this one is the best!

This place is solid! I've been here a couple times, usually with a LARGE group (20+). Even then, the servers are pretty attentive and it doesn't take too long to get our orders in or get our food. Applebee's generally has good food. The menu has very good values (especially the 2 for $20/$25 deals). There is a very large menu, and I appreciate that they clearly call out some healthier options.

I've been going here for awhile. The service and the food has always been good. That is about all I can say that's why it's four stars.

The grilled salmon was really good and the accompanying grilled zucchini was a hit as well. Service was friendly and attentive.
